Draft Horses![]() My love of Draft horses began as a kid, but the bug really hit me when Wonder Horse arrived! I got her when she was 10 months old and now at 3 years she stands 18hh and is sooo stunning!!! She is 1/2 Percheron, 1/4 Clydesdale, 1/4 Paint.... her color is simply amazing... I know she may eventually fade out but I am really enjoying it while it lasts! Next came Donna, who was rescued ( TWICE) by a fabulous woman in Australia! I told her Donna would have a forever home here with us!When she arrived she was several hundred pounds underweight, and with lots of care and good food she recovered beond our hopes! She is most likely a reg. Belgian, but she was used as a Canadian PMU mare for many years, she is the sweetest horse, and gets along with everyone! Next came Big Dee ( and her baby Lil Dee,see foal page) and Merri Boots, they were broodmares from North Dakota. Dee is a Percheron Paint cross and Merri is a Shire, both were really needing groceries when they got her in Nov 09, but are doing great now , Merri is bred to a Black & White Shire stallion Named Eboch for a May baby. His is the last picture in this bunch( I do not own this stallion). These drafts arrived and were in pretty good shape.Betsy and Ernie. Betsy is a Suffolk cross mare and Ernie is a 1 1/2 old Halflinger cross ( we THINK with Standard bred, but are not sure)His other pictures are on the foal page. Jan 2011 I acquired a few more horses from a neighbor who is moving across the country and can not take her horses with her. Some are pictured here and others on the the foal page. The Dapple grey is Thelma, the light grey is Louise, the smutty buckskin is Zelda,( her foal Jake is shown on the foal page). All these girls are Draft crosses of some sort... just not totally sure of the type of cross. |
